Captain (US Army) Jared Hampson, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Columbus, will pursue a Masters of International Peace and Security at Kings College London

My how time flies. We are already through the first eight months of our current Rotary year. Now is the time to review where we are to make sure we are on track for our goals.

District Grants

Every club has received and cashed their district grant check. By this time your project should be complete or close to it. Have you entered your receipts and finalized your grant report? If you are handling grants for your club, log into our District Website today and begin working on or wrapping up your report. To be eligible for a 2020-2021 district grant, the spending report for the 2019-2020 district grant must be completed and accepted by the District by March 31, 2020.

Speaking of the next Rotary year, start working on your district grant proposal for 2020-2021 now - it is due and must be accepted by the District no later than May 15, 2020. The grants for our next Rotary year will be discussed in more detail at the District Training Assembly on March 21 in Columbus. Be sure someone from your club attends the breakout session to learn all the details and opportunities for competitive grants.

Global Grants

We currently have 20 active Global Grants in our district valued at more than $2,000,000 which is incredible. If your club is considering an international project, please reach out to Anne Glenn. Also please have a member of your club attend the Global Grant breakout sessions at District Training Assembly. And how about doing a reverse Global Grant and bring money to help your community?

Our Global Grant scholars are doing great - one has been reporting to us regularly from London where he is very active with Rotary and Rotaract in addition to his studies (you can read excerpts of his latest blog here), one is on her way soon to New Zealand, and two new scholars (pictured here) have just been approved for the next academic year. They are exceptional people and are making us proud. Keep your eyes out for great candidates for our next selection process.

Giving

So far, the clubs in our District have given over $400,000 to the Annual Fund. Remember what we give to the Annual Fund this Rotary year will come back in three years for us to use for District and Global Grants. Several clubs have not sent any money to the Foundation this Rotary year. Please don’t wait. Send you money now.

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Alpharetta who is leading the way in total dollars given to the Annual Fund and in per capita giving. Way to go Alpharetta!!
