Have you ever stood along the crowded streets of Dunwoody on Independence Day, watched the vibrant parade roll by, and thought, “I wonder who builds those floats?” or “How can I be a part of that magic?" Now is your opportunity! The Rotary Club of Dunwoody is carrying out a fun-filled, 30+ year club tradition, and we need every hand on deck to make this year’s participation an overwhelming success. This year, our impact is bigger than ever: RCD is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the City of Dunwoody’s Fourth of July Parade. To honor this commitment and showcase our vibrant club to the community, we need a strong, enthusiastic showing of volunteers.
Whether you want to march in the spotlight, showcase your creative flair, or lead a bustling culinary operation at the end of the route, we have a perfect role for you. We are actively recruiting for several key teams:
- Parade Marchers (Walkers, Candy & Beads): We need a high-energy group of Rotarians, family members, and friends to walk the parade route representing RCD. Walkers will have the joyful task of interacting with the crowds, handing out candy to the children, and distributing festive beads to thousands of cheering spectators. It’s a front-row seat to the best celebration in town and a fantastic way to show Dunwoody our commitment to fellowship and community service.
- Bake Sale Chairperson (Crucial Leadership Role!): If marching isn't your preference, you can make a massive impact at the finish line. We are seeking a dedicated individual to serve as our Bake Sale Coordinator. This leader will organize, set up, and oversee the bake sale booth, schedule the volunteers at the event, and sell the goods to customers. Additionally, we need members to step up and volunteer to provide the homemade baked goods that will be sold to hungry parade-goers.
- Float Building & Fellowship: Before the big day, the fun begins behind the scenes! Dave Burr will coordinate the float building to take place on Sunday, June 28. The time and location will be determined later this month.
