Anchor Place Respite-Dunwoody

Rotary Club of Dunwoody was the driving force behind establishing Anchor Place Respite-Dunwoody, the only low cost, social recreational program for the victims of Alzheimer's and other dementias, which gives caregivers free time.  The following is from the December 2024 end of year report.
  • Hosted a community event
  • Trained 40+ volunteers.
  • Provided 52 days of respite day program.
  • Provided caregivers with over 1,000 hours of rest & relief.
  • Served over 1,700 volunteer hours in direct respite day programming (over 500 hours by Dunwoody Rotarians).
  • Improved safety and appearance of the facilities
  • Acquired equipment and supplies, e.g., refrigerator, chairs, AV equipment, office supplies, art and craft supplies, recreational games and equipment).
  • Provided yoga classes, art projects, games, musical activities, and interesting presentations
  • Established an Advisory Board that includes 4 Dunwoody Rotarians.
  • Raised tens of thousands of dollars from grants, civic and faith organizations, art auction, personal donations, sale of participants notes developed from their artwork.
  • The program will be sustained by bequests, other donations and fees.  We hope to offer scholarships to those who cannot afford the daily fee.
