Join us this Friday at Maggiano's to welcome Scott Shelar, President and CEO of Construction Ready, who will share his thought on career opportunities for young people in the construction industry.
Scott was never a straight-A student in school. More like B-C, depending on the class. He thrived in those that were taught in concrete ways, like geometry and writing. He still sweats just thinking about the abstract ones like algebra and trigonometry. He knows there are millions of students like him, who thrive in school when subjects are taught in more concrete ways. Think learning fractions in shop class with a tape measure and a 2x4 instead of lectures, numerators and denominators! Not everybody learns the same and not everybody wants to pursue the same type of careers.
For Scott, Construction Ready’s mission is personal. He thrives when helping
students enjoy learning and when helping all people, regardless of learning
styles or life circumstances, to find a rewarding, life-long career. His favorite quote is one by Walt Disney: “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”
Scott is in his 27th year as President and CEO of Construction Ready. He lives in Dunwoody, Georgia with his wife of 30 years, one baseball-loving, teenage son, and one cheerleading, teenage daughter.
