Join us this Friday morning at Maggiano's to welcome Steve Ivory, our District Governor for Rotary District 6900.
Steve Ivory has been a dedicated Rotarian since 2001 when he joined the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, sponsored by then-President Donna Turner. From the start, Steve actively embraced leadership roles, including serving as Club Treasurer, Club Vice President, GRSP Host Family, and participating in various committees and service projects. In 2020–2021, Steve led the club as President, steering it through a challenging pandemic year by innovating meeting formats and achieving a 254% growth in Foundation giving. His leadership then continued as an Assistant Governor under District Governors George Granade and Andre Marria.
Steve has an exemplary career combining military and corporate leadership. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Physical Sciences (1987), he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Gulf War veteran, and ultimately retired as a Major in the Marine Corps Reserve. He earned his MBA from Georgia State University (1998) before transitioning into a distinguished corporate career, recently retiring as Director of Quality at Eaton. [more]
This is your weekly update on the Whiskey Raffle! As a reminder, thanks to your generosity, our 2024 raffle sold all 400 tickets and raised $10,000 for community projects. This year, we’re aiming even higher—$25,000. That means we're looking to have a prize pool between 30 and 40 bottles ... whiskey of course and other spirits of quality! And we're planning to build interest in the raffle by holding whiskey tastings - the first next Thursday, August 28. Read on to meet our first whiskey, learn more about tastings and how you can help us build up the prize pool between now and October 7. [more]
Nine of us joined other clubs in the DeKalb Rotary Council on Saturday, August 9
to spend the morning collecting gently used medical equipment from people's homes for refurbishing and distribution by FODAC - Friends of Disabled Adults and Children. This has become an annual Council event and this year we were part of a group of 80. Afterwards we gathered at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant for fellowship and
food.
We have rescheduled our outing at The Gwinnett Stripers game for Saturday, September 6, 2025. Game time is at 6:00 pm at Cool Ray Field, 2500 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30043. Like last year, we will be sitting on the first base side. Tickets are $ 20 each and kids under 12 can attend free of charge. Attendees will be responsible for arranging for their own food and refreshments. This night is Chipper Jones Bobblehead night. If you want to attend please email Sherry Levy at sherrylevy13@hotmail.com or contact Rick Otness at otness_r@mindspring.com.
